Characters - William Shakespeare / Prospero - Tempest / The Three Weird Sisters - Macbeth Tempest


PROPS AND MATERIALS BROUGHT:

  • Prospero Costume
  • William Shakespeare Costume
  • Simple set with a quill and skull
  • Magic show

VENUE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Classroom with a electronic whiteboard for Powerpoint

FORMAT EXAMPLE FOR A TWO FORM SCHOOL:

  • One class in the morning and the other class in the afternoon


TEACHING ASPECTS AS WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE:

  • An overview of Shakespeare’s life and achievements
  • A telling of the Tempest highlighting each of the main characters
  • Characters dramatised by the children
  • Lessons from the story
  • Powerpoint with visuals of the story


FUN ACTIVITIES AT THE END OF THE PRESENTATION

  • Magic show as Prospero
  • Children write about a character from the story and if they would do anything differently and write a spell then present it to the class.

MACBETH

Characters: William Shakespeare , Three Weird Sisters

Props and materials brought:

  • Stage set
  • stage lights
  • smoke machine gently used
  • witches props including cauldron
  • drum
  • 3 witches costumes
  • Shakespeare’s costume
  • Prediction magic show
  • PAT tested PA system

VENUE REQUIREMENTS:

  • School Hall all day with table and chairs for each pupil (it can be adjusted to accomodate lunch)

FORMAT EXAMPLE FOR A TWO FORM SCHOOL:

  • The entire YR group to watch presentations in the morning and in the afternoon to work in groups making a spell and then present their spell as a group to the rest of the YR group

  • An overview of Shakespeare’s life and achievements
  • meaning of "weird" sisters
  • a dramatisation of the spell of the three weird sisters
  • Something of the story of Macbeth

  • Writing and presenting their group’s spell on the stage set using all the props they see fit
